Stage three- finding a place for the buildings

All the buildings were packed away after I took the end to end layout apart, so I am now trying to see how to fit them in the slightly smaller new space I hace created with the new layout. Here's an early look. Remember, you can click on the pictures to view larger versions.

Testing the newly laid track

After a bit more work I have finished the two main loops around the board and added some buildings.

Now it's time to see if a train will go round the board. You can make the videos run full screen by clicking on the broken square shaped icon beow the picture. Never mind the rather strange loco, its what they call 'Steampunk'. Being used here with a DC power supply to test the inner and outer circuits around the newly laid baseboard.

The end of the End to End layout.

After some thought I have decided I do not like end to end layouts, I want a layout with the ability to continuously run trains as it helps to run locos in and allows me to sit back and watch (or even video them) for a while while they run. So the end to end layout has been removed and I am once again creating a layout that allows continuous running.

I also want to be able to access all around the layout easily without having to duck down under it, so the layout is now in the centre of the room and I can access from the side, the front and the rear. It does mean the laout is back to being slightly shorter than before but it does have extension sections on one end.Pictures might explain it better, this is an early stage as I plan a track layout. All the stuff on the board is there as it has no-where else to go until layout is ready.
Here is a general view of the new layout:

A new part of the extension
The extension part that exisited on previous layout.

As you can see I have a bit of work to do. Watch this space.
